Sprout Hub Aurora is a small temporary multi-use community venue. It will provide a relaxed meeting place, ahead of more permanent facilities being built in the development. Co-working, space hire, a small cafe, activities and a wide range of events will turn the venue into a community destination and help forge important social connections between residents as well as providing networking and capacity building opportunities for local not for- profit groups and small business.
Not only a hub for community, it will be a great place to grab a coffee and snack from the café. Ten cents from every dollar spent at the Sprout Hub café will be reinvested into a community fund called ‘The Seedling Fund’. Over the three-year term, the Seedling Fund will award small grants to grassroots initiatives and groups and with the Fund eventually being handed over to the community to steward into the future.
This is the second Sprout Hub in Australia. The first hub was launched in 2014 in the Lendlease and Land Corp development of Alkimos Beach, in Western Australia. In the first two years the Alkimos Beach Sprout Hub raised $23,000 for the community Seedling Fund, hosted 89 events and activities with 2096 people attending them, all while the community grew from just 5 to 1200 residents. Locals in Alkimos Beach see the hub as an important place to connect with their neighbours and an important facility for the transition into their new homes. We are excited to be offering the same to the Aurora community.
The Aurora Sprout Hub opened in January 2017. It is located at the corner of Craigieburn Road East and Edgars Road next to the Aurora Sales and Information Centre. Operating hours hours will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am – 4pm.
